Profile:
Kamengo is a "spin off" of the Bulk Materials Handling Group formed at the British Columbia Research Corporation (BCRC) in Vancouver, Canada. The group carried out research and development in materials handling, preparation and conditioning systems, with emphasis on biomass materials. R&D activities on biomass handling were largely funded by the Canadian Government's "Bioenergy Development Program", and resulted in a number of successful technologies, including the "Moving Hole" concept.
Technologies:
Biomass
Technology Description:
The patented Moving Hole feeder essentially consists of slots which traverse back and forth, without any friction between the stored material and the feeder deck.
As the deck is traversed back and forth, the belts on the deck sections are held stationary relative to the stored material, thus creating frictionless "moving holes".
Lack of friction between the stored material and the feeder avoids compaction of the material. Unlike commonly used feeders that must shear material from a head load and push it forward, the "Moving Hole" feeder relies only on gravity.
The slots traverse the entire hopper outlet area, resulting in a fully "effective" discharge irrespective of the length of the hopper. The feeder provides reliable flow of even very difficult flowing materials without "hang-ups".
Products and Services:
The patented "Moving Hole" feeder provides "effective" discharge and reliable flow for the most difficult flowing materials.
Countries of Operation:
Canada
Projects / Initiatives:
Retrofit of feed system on wood fired boiler reduces supplementary fuel
